Your breath with be taken away as you approach this dramatic fairytale medieval 15th-century Chateau. There is a parking area and then a bridge crossing the moat which surrounds the Chateau on all sides. The entrance was a portcullis into the private courtyard. A central lawn and beds full of beautiful flowers greets you with the buildings on three sides. The fourth side is mature forest which surrounds the Chateau.
On the far left side of the U shaped Chateau, is the current owners living accommodation. On the ground floor a sitting room, an eat in kitchen and downstairs storage and toilet. Upstairs are two very large double bedrooms and a large family bathroom with twin sinks and a separate toilet. This part of the building is totally renovated and has underfloor heating and all modern conveniences and is ready to move into.
The next part of the building which is one of the towers has a wine store/cave and what could be a two bedroom house, over 2 floors. it was a holiday rental many years ago but needs a total overhaul, it has its own separate entrance to the front and a lovely spiral stone staircase.
The bottom of the U is divided by the portcullis gate. On one side is a barn of 170m2 currently used as a garage and store, On the other is a stunning vaulted room, also 170m2, which has been the venue for many weddings and theatrical events. It was totally renovated in the mid 1980’s as part of a renovation programme including work on the moat by the Monuments Historic of France, underfloor heating was installed and a clever drainage system was installed under the building to take any ground water away into the moat.
The second corner tower has a large room with fireplace on the ground floor. A stone spiral staircase leads to a a stunning room overlooking the moat with a huge arched ceiling, also with a fireplace. All it needs is someone to install a four poster bed and you will be transported back to the time of Joan of Arc and King Charles VII.
The final side of the U shape houses what was a successful creperie restaurant run by the current owners before their retirement. It has a terrace, bar, large working bread oven, kitchen and storeroom. The entrance has no steps and the toilet is large enough to meet wheelchair requirements.
For a lover of historical buildings this Chateau is for you, it combines so many opportunities and you can move straight in. There are several interesting projects to consider and you will be in a living, breathing piece of French History.
