Sault is the capital of Lavender. It is situated at the altitude of 766 meters, known worldwide for the cultivation of lavender, Sault, once protect ted by fortifications, bears the traces of an intense human activity from prehistoric times on.
Sault is the ideal spot for hikes and excursions toward Mont Ventoux, the Nesque Canyon, the Toulourenc valley, the Montagne de Lure, the Luberon and other nearby sites in Drôme Provençale and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence
Besides the market, Wednesdays mornings since 1515, the summer period is marked by various animations, festivals, garage sales, with a culmination on august, 15th, with the inescapable lavender festival.
The village sports complex has a swimming pool (open in July and August), 3 tennis courts (access all year, a skate park, a soccer field and starting point for many hikes.
The top of Mont Ventoux is accessible from mid-april on, either by bike or by car. The “Giant of Provence” is only 26 kilometres off the village.
